Happy new month, everyone! The month of March represents a very significant milestone for us as a country as it marks 63 years of independence from colonial rule. As a bank, March is also momentous to our history as it marked that wonderful 15th day of March, 1972 when we first opened our doors to the public as an indigenous full-service financial institution specializing in customized banking products and services.

Throughout our remarkable journey, we have achieved tremendous success, surmounted several challenges and leveraged on opportunities in the industry to bring you the best of banking services. We are therefore truly grateful to you for allowing us to define banking excellence in our service to you. Here is to many more years of working for you and with you!

As an indigenous business, with vested interest in the development of our society, especially our future generation, it gives me great joy to share with you that we have once again partnered with Legacy & Legacy to bring you the 2020 Springboard Roadshows in Kumasi, Cape Coast and Accra. I am optimistic that this year’s speakers will espouse thought-provoking and compelling ideas that will stimulate relevant discourse even beyond the roadshows.

Later this month, I will be presenting a full educational scholarship to the overall best candidate in the 2019 WASSCE as part of our Bank’s contribution to youth development and educational empowerment. This will be the sixth of such support we have given out as part of our partnership with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), to recognize and reward the best performing candidates in the 2019 West African Senior School Certificate Examination.

As we celebrate our independence as a country, let me implore your sense of patriotism to do more than the ordinary for our country so that together we can achieve the greatness our ancestors fought for. On this note, I wish everyone a happy Independence Day and look forward to a wonderful business month ahead.

The highlight of the celebration for me was the pleasure of serving some of you, our walk-in customers who visited us during the Customer Service Week celebration. Subsequent to the successful maiden cleanup exercise we held at Accra Borla beach, we followed it up another cleanup exercise at the Tegbi (Lorneh) beach in Keta, Volta region. The Tegbi beach cleanup exercise was part of the pre-launch activities of our UMB Foundation’s School Leadership for Effective Educational Outcome Project (SLEEOP). We were joined by Zoomlion Ghana Limited and over 300 students from the five selected schools under the SLEEOP initiative, that is; Keta Business School, Zion Senior High School, Keta Senior High School, Anlo Senior High School and Tsiame Senior High School.
