New and exciting developments are in the works at UMB and the month of July will be an exceptional one. We are diligently working hard on the launch of a new product that will provide our customers with increased purchasing flexibility, greater purchasing reach and added convenience. I wish that I could share the details with you now, but I would rather not spoil the surprise. When we do publicly launch, I am certain that you will revel in the excitement.

As you know, UMB is committed to providing our customers with convenience and expediency and in that vein we have recently added Wakanow.com to our growing list of in-branch services. Indeed, I am happy to share that you can now pay for your Wakanow.com flights at any UMB branch nationwide. Our other in-branch services include payments for water, ECG; DStv; AMA property rates and building permit fees; e-vouchers for various universities and tertiary institutions nationwide; school fees for Labone SHS and KNUST Distance Learning; GTA Levy Fund fees; NLA Fast Cash Fast Pay; and you can top up on your MTN mobile money!

While it has been more than a month since the tragic events of the June 3 floods, UMB is working hard to assist those who have been severely affected by the floods. Shortly after the floods, we launched the UMB and Joy FM Flood Relief Fund in collaboration with Joy FM. The UMB and Joy FM Flood Relief Fund is designed to raise funds to purchase necessary medical supplies for the flood victims. UMB has provided the initial seed money for the UMB and Joy FM Flood Relief Fund and I encourage you to join in the relief efforts. Donations can be made to UMB Acc. 000250100039360, MTN mobile money to 0549781391 or cheque to UMB and Joy FM Flood Relief Fund. We begin the month of May amidst an air of excitement and anticipation. We will be launching our new brand campaign this month and I look forward to sharing the details with you.

Our new campaign will highlight how important our customers are to us and how much we value your continued business. Indeed, at UMB, our core philosophy is embodied in our slogan, ‘you first’ and our new campaign will further emphasize our customer centric focus.

Hopefully, many of you have participated in our Happy Days Remittance Loyalty program. We are rewarding our loyal customers who continually receive money using our money transfer service with points that allow you to redeem great prizes. UMB has more money transfer operators than any bank in Ghana, with over 14 money transfer operators offered at any of our 28 banks nationwide. If you are receiving money from anywhere in the world, I invite you to receive your money at UMB and experience our convenient and expedient money transfer service.

In addition to our great Happy Days Remittance Loyalty program, you can now pay your AMA property rates and business operating permits at selected UMB branches within the AMA jurisdiction, namely Accra Main, Adabraka, Osu, Oxford Street, Ridge, SIA, NIA, Abossey Okai and Kaneshie branches. We will be adding more services to our payments and collections platform, so stay tuned-in for more information.

Lastly, we know how important it is for you to have access to your deposited funds as quickly as possible and for that reason, we have introduced UMB Express Cheque. UMB Express Cheque is our convenient and efficient cheque clearing service. If you present a cheque before 11am at any one of our branches, it will clear within the same day!

In Christian faith, the period following the resurrection is one of resurgence and rebirth, so it is fitting that I join UMB at this important time. I am joining a bank that has already embarked on a journey filled with many impressive and noteworthy accomplishments and I am honoured to lead the bank as it enters this phase in its history.
Following in UMB tradition, there are many exciting new developments this month. We recently opened two new branches in Accra – our Oxford Street Branch located on Oxford Street in Osu, across from Shoprite and our Spintex Branch, located on Spintex Road, next to Isuzu Motors. The two new branches embody our commitment to our customers through their convenient locations and inviting and warm atmospheres. Additionally, our new Oxford Street and Spintex branches feature our signature 24HR E-Zone, equipped with 24 hour ATMs and tablet-enabled E-Banking services. Also, as is customary with all UMB branches, our two new branches are staffed with friendly and knowledgeable financial professionals who are eager to address all of your banking needs.
I am also thrilled to share that we will be launching a new brand campaign very soon. Our new brand campaign is a beautiful visual representation of our dedication to our customers through our ‘you first’ philosophy.

UMB has had an exciting year since our successful rebranding and we are extremely thankful to you for your support in what we have achieved thus far. As we continue on in our course to build on the great achievements that we have made as a bank, we will welcome Mr. John Awuah as the new Managing Director/CEO.
Mr. Awuah, who will be leading the next phase of our strategy, will be working with our talented team of UMB professionals to ensure UMB’s continued success.
With his impressive wealth of experience in banking and finance, Mr. Awuah will help UMB to be even more effective in serving your needs. Prior to his appointment by the UMB Board of Directors, he was an Executive Director at GCB Bank Limited where he successfully led the financial restructuring of the bank among other notable accomplishments.
