Happy new month! I consider communication to be a critical key to success and that is why I, personally, am committed to sharing information about changes in our Bank as candidly and promptly as possible, including the reasons for those changes.


I was honoured to host reporters from online, radio, TV and print houses at my residence on the 18th of last month and I expressed UMB’s commitment in continuing to support the annual Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards as well as partnering the GJA on capacity building engagements in the course of this year. This is to demonstrate that UMB is dedicated to fostering an empowered community of reporters who want to develop, discover, and make a positive impact in their local communities. And this media community should inspire hope and not make editorial decisions based on prejudice and misconception. I believe it is vital that journalists have the patience to stay their pens, the valor and principle to act when needed, and the humility and integrity to know which of these paths to choose.


For the most part, February is the month of love. And I am happy to once again announce that the UMB SpeedApp, our mobile banking app, will be officially launched this month – our perfect gift to you. In fact, everyone at UMB is thrilled that we are officially launching our mobile banking app, the UMB SpeedApp.


Our UMB SpeedApp is a game changer as both UMB customers and non-customers can use it for a number of services including Airtime top-up, Mobile Money, Instant Funds Transfer, Cardless ATM Withdrawals, Bill Payments, Request for Loans and Investment as well as earn interest on UMB Savings Wallet.


Users who are familiar with the UMB SpeedApp since the soft launch will attest to its distinctiveness, responsiveness and relevance. For UMB customers and non-customers who are yet to download and experience our mobile banking app, it is available for download on Android, iOS and Windows mobile devices. With that said, I entreat everyone to download and give us feedback to help us to continue to improve and provide you with more relevant banking solutions.


We truly value your feedback and want to hear your ideas, your voice and your suggestions. And so this month, our Contact Centre will begin to operate and provide customer care support 24/7 – Monday to Friday including weekends on any of our toll-free lines MTN 0800-100880, Vodafone and Airtel 0800-10088 and all other lines 0302 633 988.
