Message from the CEO

July 3, 2019

Dear Business Partner,

A very warm welcome to you as we kick off the second half of 2019 and I am pleased that UMB, your indigenous bank of choice, is a proud sponsor of the live broadcast of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nation in Egypt on your local radio and television channels covering the length and breadth of Ghana. This is our Bank’s way of ensuring that every Ghanaian enjoys the beautiful game of football while demonstrating our support for the Ghana Blackstars. It is our fervent hope that the team bring home the coveted trophy after close to forty decades of drought.

Before I continue, allow me to recap a few of the activities in the month of June; as it turned out to be busy, here at UMB. As part of our Customer Appreciation activities, we hosted three Financial Literacy programmes at our Tema East branch, UMB Centre for Businesses in Kasoa and Madina for our valued customers and prospects in and around the catchment areas. For us at UMB, these periodic customer engagements are very necessary as it gives us the opportunity to share knowledge and new ideas as well as gather feedback from our valued customers that will significantly help us to improve our service and product offering.

I am pleased to announce that UMB was adjudged the Best Bank Award in Cyber Security Risk Management, for the third successive year, at the 9th Ghana Information Technology and Telecom Awards (GITTA) held in Accra. Also, myself and our Ag. Head of I.T., Mr. Sylvester Apedoe were adjudged the Emerging ICT Driven CEO of the Year and CIO of the Year, respectively. We dedicate the awards to our cherished customers and it is our promise to continuously exceed their expectations with our new and existing products; as well as in our service delivery.

Over the years, UMB has contributed significantly in youth development through educational support in Ghana. And as part of our Bank’s efforts to increase our corporate social responsibility efforts and in our quest to continue impacting our society, we hosted a section of students from the 5 Garrison Education Centre, Burma Camp at our Head office for the maiden UMB Open Day Tour.

The UMB Open Day Tour was an insightful experience for myself and my colleagues; and especially the students as they got first-hand knowledge of some the back-end operations of a typical bank. It will also help guide their future career aspirations. We, at UMB, intend to extend this opportunity to other schools in order to impact and impart knowledge to the future generations.

On that note, I look forward to a wonderful month this July. Thank you for choosing to bank with us and for your continued loyalty to UMB!

Sincerely,
