April 1, 2020

Dear Business Partner,

As you all may be aware, the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) has presented an extraordinary challenge for us to fight together. In that regard, UMB, as a business, is closely observing local and international developments regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and all the necessary protocols are in place to ensure the safety of our customers and employees.

I want to take this opportunity to implore you to remain calm and optimistic knowing that humanity will prevail. Be assured, that UMB is available to provide you with exceptional service even in these uncertain times. As part of our measures, we have triggered aspects of our business continuity plan in response and anticipation of the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in the environment.

At UMB, your health and safety is of concern to us and that is why we have taken stringent precautionary measures across our branch network and touchpoints aimed at safeguarding the health and safety of you, our valued customers as well as employees. To do our part in mitigating the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19), we continue to encourage our customers to perform their banking transactions using our suite of 24-hour electronic channels anytime, anywhere. From our range of UMB Instant Visa debit cards, UMB UnionPay International cards, E-zwich cards, UMB internet banking platform and the innovative UMB SpeedApp for your seamless banking needs.

The pillar to UMB’s exceptional service delivery is our staff, for that reason, we are adhering to the health and safety guide from the Ghana Health Service for enhanced preventative procedures and awareness at all of our branches to protect our staff and customers. We have also enabled our staff who can work from home to do so in line with social distancing and crowd control protocols.

As we encourage the use of our electronic banking channels, please be mindful of potential scams that could occur as a result of this situation. Remember, UMB will never call or email you asking for your PIN or internet banking credentials. Also, be weary of links or attachments contained in texts or emails and exercise caution before clicking or opening them.

We appreciate the financial burden this pandemic has brought unto some of our customers. That is why UMB is offering loans of up to GHS200,000 to salaried workers of both private and public institutions to make life easier in this difficult time. In addition, UMB will give three to six months’ moratorium on the loans to ease their financial burden.

If you have recently changed your phone number, residential address, or email address, it is important that you notify us of the change through the UMB SpeedApp or branch walk-in so we can update your records held with us to facilitate ease of communication and access to all our banking services.

To quote Desmond Tutu, who once said “hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.” Our future depends on what we do today and so I want to encourage everyone to be hopeful and observe the precautionary measures from the Ghana Health Service and other relevant state agencies as the situation unfolds. We hope and pray that everyone is able to stay safe!

Thank you for your continued trust in UMB and for your business.
