The Corporate Banking unit of Universal Merchant Bank (UMB) participated in the China – Ghana Economic and Trade Forum organised by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China. The event was held at the Kempinksi Hotel on 28th June, 2016 and was organized to enhance trade and investment cooperation between Ghanaian and Chinese entrepreneurs.
Some of the dignitaries who spoke at the event included Her Excellency the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Madame Sun Baohong, the Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Mohammed Muniru Limuna, the President of Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nana Dr Appiagyei Dankawoso I, the President of China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Ghana, Mr. Liu Kang among others.
In his address, the Chief Executive Officer of UMB, Mr. John Awuah, stated that, “UMB, is poised to play a significant role in enhancing and growing trade between China and Ghana and also in supporting Chinese businesses in Ghana to develop and integrate their businesses further in Ghana”.
Mr. Awuah also noted that UMB has recently launched a new department, staffed with banking professionals who are fluent in Mandarin, to provide tailor-made products and services to Chinese businesses in Ghana. He concluded by encouraging all participants to take advantage of UMB’s bespoke services for Chinese businesses.
