After four years of dedicated and growth oriented service to the Bank, the Board of UMB announce the departure of their CEO, Mr. John Awuah.

John Awuah joined UMB and has over the years initiated and championed successful strategies with the private sector as well as partnered the public sector on initiatives for the development of the country.

Some of the projects include the launch the UMB PPP Centre, and the growth of the Small and Medium Scale Enterprises in Ghana through the UMB Centre for Businesses.

Under his leadership, the Bank introduced more branches and innovative products to meet its ever growing customer base.

Mr. Awuah has built a strong foundation for the present and future growth of UMB and the bank will continue to execute these laudable initiatives.

The Board Chairman of UMB, in a message to John Awuah said “ you are a strong advocate for team effort, and over the past 4 years, we have witnessed good and positive transformation under your watch. We wish you the very best in your future endeavours”

UMB Sponsors the Maiden J.A. Kufuor Cup Between Kotoko and AshantiGold

Kumasi Asante Kotoko and rivals Obuasi Ashantigold played a 1-1 drawn game after 120 minutes to climax the 80th birthday celebration of former President, John Agyekum Kufuor in the maiden J.A. Kufuor Cup at the Baba Yara Stadium on January 6, 2019.

The cup match, sponsored by UMB and organised by Primeval Media, under the auspices of the J.A. Kufuor Foundation, will fix a new date to determine the ultimate winner of the match.

Emmanuel Gyamfi and midfielder Richard Ella Djodi scored for Kotoko and Ashgold, respectively after 90 minutes to push the match to extra time.

Former President Kufuor was unable to make it to the big game but he was ably represented by the Sports Minister Mr. Isaac Asiamah and MP for Asokwa, Ms. Patricia Apeagyei and other dignitaries.

The teams swung into action after the exchange of pleasantries led by Bamtamahene, Baffour Amankwatia VI, who stood in for the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

UMB Receives Funding to Meet the New Bank of Ghana Minimum Capital Requirement of GHS400m

2018 Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols Service

To climax an eventful year and appreciate our Lord for his goodness, Management of UMB organised yet another wonderful carols service on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at the Silver Star Towers, Airport City.

The UMB Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols service was officiated by Reverend Dr. Nii Amoo Darku with musical performances by One Voice Choir and MOG.

In attendance was the Minister for Information, Hon. Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah, members of UMB Board of Directors, Executive Committee members, some customers and staff from all our Greater Accra area branches.

UMB Grand S.P.E.E.D. Champion Rewarded With All-Expense Paid Trip to Canada

Universal Merchant Bank (UMB) has rewarded Michael Kwadwo Asamoah of the Bank’s Card Operations Department with an all-expense paid trip to any destination of his choosing.

Michael won the overall best worker after he won the 2017 3rd Quarter edition of the UMB S.P.E.E.D. Championship.

For his prize as the overall Grand S.P.E.E.D. Champion, Michael Kwadwo Asamoah walked away with a cash prize of GHS10,000; a Grand S.P.E.E.D. Champion citation; an all-expense paid trip to Toronto, Canada, which is his destination of choice; $1000 spending money; lunch with the members of the Bank’s Executive Committee (EXCO) with two family members and two colleagues.

As an added honour, his picture has been displayed in the UMB Hall of S.P.E.E.D. Champions at the UMB Head office at the SSNIT Emporium, Airport City, in Accra.

The UMB S.P.E.E.D. Championship is a quarterly internal campaign to determine which Front and/or Back Office member of staff has consistently demonstrated the bank’s core values of Speed, Passion, Excellence, Ethics and Diligence (S.P.E.E.D.) in the performance of their duties.
